Spring 2011, a pastor walked onto the UCI campus. She brought a Bible, and waited for the young ones who spoke Chinese.
First one. Then two. Then a table full. By the end of that spring, they were a group.
Eight years later, they founded a church — in Irvine, California. Chinese. Non-denominational. We named it Newlifers Church.
A decade has passed. Those students are parents now. Today we are of every age, and every Sunday we gather in Irvine to worship, to hear the Word, to share our lives.
On Friday nights, three fellowships gather in their own places — Campus at UCI; Career and Family in members' homes. Around a lamp, an open Bible, a cup of water, we continue the story that began that spring.
The Branches Worship Team leads our songs. The children have their own room, their own teachers, their own songs. Those far away meet with us each week on Zoom.
If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.
Here, the new gather.
